Many people who are considered to be “dentally fit” are still unhappy with their smile, leading to self-consciousness and a lack of confidence.
If you would like to understand more about how we can restore your smile by replacing your old amalgam fillings or improving the alignment or shade of your teeth, we have a range of treatments that can create a beautiful new smile.
Crowns and bridges are permanently fixed in the mouth by being cemented onto existing teeth or implants and can only be removed by a dentist.
A crown is used to entirely cover a damaged tooth. Besides strengthening the tooth, a crown can be used to improve its appearance, shape or alignment.
Most crowns are made of either ceramic or a combination of ceramic and metal depending on your preference and the advice of your dentist.
A bridge may be recommended if you are missing one or more teeth. Gaps left by missing teeth can be havens for food and bacteria and eventually the surrounding teeth are likely to rotate or shift into the empty spaces, and can cause problems with your ‘bite’.
A bridge is used to fill the space where the teeth are missing. To secure the bridge it is cemented to the two teeth either side of the gap, which are called abutments. The replacement tooth, or pontic, is attached to the restorations that cover the abutments.
As with crowns, there is a choice of materials all of which can be matched to the shade of your natural teeth and we can help you decide which is the most suitable for your individual case.
