Our procedures and promises
When you first join our practice, we will need to gather as much information about you, your dental history and your dental needs as possible to ensure we can provide you with the most suitable treatment options. Your initial consultation will involve a thorough oral examination and you will be asked to complete a medical history form. Your medical history is important, because certain medical conditions and some medications can affect your oral health, so understanding your individual circumstances enables us to provide dental treatment as part of a holistic approach.
The initial oral examination will involve a complete assessment of your teeth and any existing restorations and will also include x-rays. We will thoroughly examine your gum condition, and carry out a check for early signs of oral cancer.
We can also show you images of the inside of your mouth using an intra-oral camera, enabling you to get a full picture of your existing dentition, assess your needs and understand our treatment recommendations.
We will always discuss the various treatment options available to you and work with you to create an appropriate treatment plan, including details of the estimated costs.
We promise to never recommend more frequent visits than are necessary for your individual needs, based on your dental history and the current state of your dental health. As always, regular visits to the hygienist, teamed with a rigorous home-care regimen, can reduce or even negate the need for you to come and see the dentist. It’s not that we don’t want to see you – just that we know you have other things you’d rather be doing!
